Instructional Strategies for Social Studies:
- Supplement reading with films, globes, maps, charts and realia
- Use lots of VISUALS with vocabulary
- Be alert to language, concepts, and values that are unclear in written material
- Ensure understanding by questioning students
- Show students how to use table of contents, index, and glossary
- Give them needed information such as page number, terms, paragraph number, chapter, etc. in written context
- Understand cultural information about child
- Show how to use and understand timelines
- Be specific with academic language: (specific to SS)
